Last night Kerri and I finally got to see The Lion King at the Kennedy Center. It was awesome. We both agree it is the best musical we have seen to date. It was one big puppet show. In the opening number all the animals come down the aisles onto the stage. They had people on four stilts dressed as giraffes. An elephant walked down one aisle, gazelles leaped, a cheetah bowed. It was amazing. Not only were the puppets cool, but the stage itself was really technical with steam, real water, inflatable plants, and movable sets.
One of our favorite scenes was when the herd of animals stampeded through the ravine. That was really cool. Anyway. It is a must for anyone who lives close enough to a theatre where the musical is showing. You won't regret it.
